facepalm How to disable auto sync on your iPhone, iPad and iPod
Don't worry, be happy, facepalm =)
Just like the Apple TV, the iPhone seems intent on syncing with or without your consent. With an iPod, you are afforded the option of switching it into manual mode so that you can add and delete media files from it manually. However, the iPhone and Apple TV do not come with a manual mode; they simply must sync.
This auto syncing can be a problem since there are times when you need to plug your device into a different computer than the one you normally sync it with to charge the battery. In this situation, you can follow the steps below to avoid dealing with data mistakes and warnings.
1. Launch iTunes on the computer prior to plugging in your iPhone or iPod.
2. Go to iTunes meu-->Preferences-->Devices if you are on a Mac and Edit-->Settings-->Devices if you are on a PC.
3. Press the icon or tab that reads Devices.
4. Underneath the box, you should see a check box that reads "Automatically sync when this _____ is connected." Check this option, and then press OK.

There you have it. Auto sync is now disabled, and you can plug your device into the foreign computer without worrying about warnings and data errors.
Consult with the user's guide for further information on syncing iGadgets with a computer.
It'll be ok, facepalm!
