How to use Twitter on your New iPad
The social networking platform Twitter seems to grow in popularity by the minute, and you need to practically be online 24/7 if you want to keep up with all of the updates from the people you are following. Now that you own a shiny new iPad, you can access your Twitter account anywhere at any time, as long as you have the tablet in your possession anyway. There are several options available for sending and reading tweets on your iPad. Below, we have described the three most popular methods for using the popular website on your new device.
1. Twitter for iPad
You can download the official Twitter for iPad application to use Twitter from a program designed specifically for the iPad's setup. The app's interface is intuitive in design and capable of displaying multiple layers of content onscreen at once. At the same time, it is simple enough so as to not be confusing or overwhelming. Once you have successfully downloaded the app, simply input your username and password, and your friends' latest tweets will appear on the screen. To send a tweet of your own, tap the compose button at the bottom of the screen. If you want to retweet something, tap the tweet, and press the square arrow button that appears. The app is free and available to download in the Apple App Store as well as directly from the Twiter website.
2. Alternative apps: Tweetbot for iPad and Twitterrific for iPad
If you, for any reason, are not satisfied with the official Twitter for iPad app, there are other Twitter apps that you can download via the Apple App Store. Tweetbot is particularly worth looking into because it is aesthetically pleasing in design and offers a number of added features including the ability to mute particular people, tweets, or hashtags. However, the added functionality comes at a small cost of $2.99 in the App Store. Twitterrific, on the other hand, is free. Twitterrific is the original Twitter app that came out early on when Twitter was just gaining in popularity. It is basic in design and a great choice for beginners or those who just appreciate simplicity.
If you have a Wi-Fi connection and prefer not to install a Twitter app on your iPad, you can also access the site directly through Safari. To do so, simply launch Safari and type www.twitter.com into the address bar. Twitter even offers a mobile version now, which makes it easy to navigate the site on your iPad's screen. Since you are accessing the site via a web browser just as you would on a computer, you can do everything that you would be able to do when using Twitter from your computer this way. This option is especially useful for those who do not use their Twitter accounts all that often and do not want to deal with the notifications on their iPad's Home screen. However, for more regular users, we suggest installing a dedicated Twitter app, as the site can sometimes have a bit of a lag on Safari.
Review our list above and decide which method for accessing Twitter from your iPad will work best for you. If you are unsure, try out a few methods. With the exception of Tweetbot, all methods are free, so you have nothing to lose by trying out a few different options. Now that you know about the different options available to you, you should be tweeting from your sleek new tablet in no time.
